Ragdoll called Rosie

Rosie is an 11 year old seal bi-coloured Ragdoll. She is neutered. Rosie is seeking a new home, because her owner is emigrating and feels that it is unfair to put her through the upheaval involved in taking her abroad.

Rosie is an affectionate Ragdoll, who has been very well loved and cared for. She is used to living with dogs and has had access to a safe garden. She is not used to young children.

Rosie does have a couple of health problems, but these are easily managed and do not affect her quality of life at all:

small intestinal bacteria over growth: Rosie was diagnosed with this when she was 6 years old, after bouts of diarrhoea. She takes daily medication for this, which controls it successfully. She takes her tablet happily and it can be easily administered by one person on their own.

Mega oesophagus: If Rosie eats her food too fast, then she can be prone to vomiting it straight back up. This is a problem that is not unusual in cats and does not cause an issue at all. Her owner feeds her on a washable floor , so any vomiting is easily cleaned up.

Vaccine allergy: Rosie is allergic to vaccination and it has in the past caused a severe reaction.
Rosie must not be vaccinated. This is only a problem with regards to cattery accommodation. Rosie will need to be cared for in her own home, when her new owners go away.

We understand that this may all seem very daunting, but Rosie's health problems are minor, can be suffered by any cat and they are easily dealt with.

Due to her age, we have asked Rosie's owner to have a health check and a geriatric blood profiling carried out to check that she is healthy in all other areas.

Rosie needs a new home where there are no children under 12 years, with a family who can manage her intestinal problems and administer her medication daily. She would appreciate access to a secure garden.

Rosie is an older cat and we know from experience that her age and her long term health issues will be a barrier to finding a new family for her. It is going to take someone very special to step forward and offer her the love and commitment she needs. That person will be rewarded many times over though, with a friendly, affectionate Raggie companion, who has so much more love still to give. Rosie deserves the same chance of a new loving family as the younger Ragdolls we work with.

Meet Rosie

Rosie has had her Geriatric blood tests and the news is good. All her readings were within the normal range and there is no impaired kidney or liver function etc. so we now know Rosie to be a generally healthy cat.

We have received a photo from her owner, which we shall scan and post on this thread ASAP.

We hope that someone will feel they can give this little lady the quiet, loving home she is looking for.

We now have written confirmation from Rosie's vet that her blood results show no reduced liver or kidney function.

Rosie's owners says:

Like most Ragdolls she is a complete 'innocent', with no defences whatsever. I have never heard her growl or hiss, her claws are always tucked away when she plays with me or the dogs and she only employs her teeth for eating. She is a very healthy and happy cat who simply wants someone to purr to.



Rosie lives in Swindon, but her owner is happy to travel within a 100 mile radius to take her to her new home. Rosie will take her beds, carrier, food bowls and months supply of food with her, along with 6 months supply of our medication. Her medication can be obtained for a cost of approx £20 a year, online. The UKRCC are willing to help support Rosie once she goes to her new home and this will be discussed and agreed with her new owner.

We had an offer of a home for Rosie, from a lovely family, who were happy to look beyond Rosie's health problems and give her a safe, loving home. However when arranging the adoption of any Ragdoll we are mindful that the owners must be completely happy with home we have found, so that they have peace of mind. Rosie's owner was grateful to the family for their offer of a home, but she had a few concerns, as they had two cats of their own.

We fully respect and support Rosie's owner in her decision to let this home go and to keep looking for Rosie's new family.

Rosie is an extremely friendly, loving Ragdoll, who with the exception of a minor bowel complaint, is a healthy cat, full of life and character.

She is looking for a forever home, as an only cat. She is used to living with dogs and would settle ok with an older, quite, cat friendly dog. She is used to being left for some of the time, but will need a home where she has human companionship, for at least part of the day. She would suit someone who is semi retired or works from home. Rosie is used to having supervised access to a secure garden.

We would appeal to anyone considering adopting an older Ragdoll to look past the fact Rosie needs medication and see her for the wonderful Ragdoll she is. She will make a super companion for anyone willing to make the commitment to her. She has been well loved and cared for and so has no psychological baggage like many of the Ragdolls we work with. Her owner has moved four times since having Rosie and on each occasion Rosie has taken the move in her stride and settled very quickly. She is a confident, happy, gentle girl, who just needs a new family, because her Mum is emigrating and does not wish to put Rosie through the stress of a long flight etc.

If Rosie does not find a new home by February 2008, she will have to come into foster care - it would be best for her, if we could avoid this and find her a permanent home.

With regards to Rosie's medication it costs approx. £20 per year - the UKRCC are willing to help fund this and we shall happily discuss this further with any potential adopter.

awww now I just love Rosie as you know she is the most sweetest looking lady I have ever seen bless her. I cannot believe she has been overlooked so many times.

fingers crossed a home will become available soon and one her owners approve of. If the worst comes to the worst there is always a loving foster home for her to stay until she finds somewhere
