The scariest moment of my life so far has to be when Hayley was 2. We had come onto the landing outside the top floor flat we lived on. Some workmen hadn't cleaned up the sawdust they had left behind and Hayley slipped on it and tumbled down a flight of 10 concrete steps! The silence was deafening and when she let out an almighty scream by heart started beating again. She spent the night in hospital for observation, but I will never forget how terrifying that silence was. |

letting Elaine babysit my babies the day after we moved - she did loose the collie for a while but as he was deaf he came back at his own space Still I did get a good mate and apart from her accident proneness she is a fab person!!!!! |

My scariest moment was when my twins were born premature. First born was my daughter at 3lb 10 and she was fine...... my son was born 6 minutes later and wasn't breathing. After what seemed an age they managed to get him breathing at last, and they were both taken to the Special Care Unit. Two days later I was woken at 2.30am, put in a wheelchair and rushed down to the Unit as my son had taken a turn for the worse and was being transferred to a bigger hospital with specialist equipment. The doctor said they thought I would like to say goodbye to him just in case, as they didn't expect him to live. Somehow he pulled through after being in hospital for 7 weeks and I was able to hold him at last. The happy outcome was that he did very well at school, college and Uni .....he is none the worse for his frightening start to life ....and I am proud of him! |

Nothing as traumatic as Alex or Mags! Being bitten by the dog and having to start the awful rabies shots was very scary for me when I was a little girl....... |

Probably mine is when I was in labour with my son and as I was induced I was strapped to a monitor and it had shown he was having problems, the midwife refrained from telling me this however and when she changed shift the new midwife was really worried, put theatre on call and basically got him out of there asap. Luckily I didn't have to go into theatre but I had to give birth to him before fully dilated and they ventoused him out. I was already in another world with the pain relief, i'd been in labour for over 12 hours and was really confused about what was going on, all of a sudden the midwife hit the alert button and there were doctors everywhere preparing for his arrival. When he was delivered they put him on my tummy and cut the cord but he wasn't breathing so they had to get him started which seemed like an eternity at the time but all was well in the end. |

Really scarey stories ladies - I am so thankful that I have never had a baby! My scariest moment was about 3 years ago when I woke up one July morning and was struggling for breath - I have been asthmatic since 5 months old and had a couple of bad times in babyhood which I don't remember but this time I was conscious of what was happening. My OH rang for an ambulance and off I went to A&E. Have to say that the ambulance men/doctors and nurses were fab! After medication and such and being shown a sample of my blood, which was brown, I started to recover. The doctor said that I looked better and my shoulders had relaxed, would I like a cup of tea - would I ever! Yes, that was scarey and took me quite a while not to be anxious about it happening again. 3 years later and so far, nothing else has happened. What brought it on, I have no idea. |

Lots of health answers - not suprising I suppose. I have 2 When I though my husband had meningitis - he was sick, dizzy, light averse and achey, all with very quick onset. I must have convinced the doc surgery that I was worried - the doctor arrived at the house within 2 minutes of me phoning "Come NOW" When my son had his squint corrected and was listed for surgery first thing in the morning and I was advised to go to work and come in at lunchtime. So I did, and his bed was empty. I wasn't terribly concerned, as I suppose unconciously I realised that would have contacted me if there was a real problem. Sister spotted me and came hurtling up the ward to tell me there had been a heating problem in theatre and everything had been delayed. Childhood horors are different but I, too, remember fierce geese! And cystitis |
