My 2 little bookworms!

It was world book day last week and my girls school asked for pupils to dress up as characters from storybooks. So here are my two in their completely homemade costumes

Hayley dressed as Lily Quench. If you dont know this series of books, they are about a young girl who has a dragon for a friend and the books are all about their adventures. Very enjoyable (I read them too )

And Raechel decided to go as one of the mermaids from Peter Pan. I think she only decided that because we had this costume already when I made it for her school play

Your girls are lovely Alex and their costumes are great.

I think it's really nice that your children are interested in books, do they belong to the local library?

My two grandchildren are 5 and 7 enjoy reading and their bookshelves are overflowing with books.
Jamie (5) has just gone up a level in his reading book at school and he is so pleased.

Oh yes!! They both have a bookcase in their bedroom jammed with books. Hayley has the reading ability of an 11 year old and Raechel a 14 year old. They have both been members of the library since they were born and love to sit down with a good book

I think it makes such a difference to children when they are introduced to books at a very early age..

Re: My 2 little bookworms!

The girls look lovely in their costumes, and I think it's great that the school is emphasizing reading that way. When I was little, a trip to the library with my Mom was a treat, and when I was old enough to get my very own library card I was thrilled! And it's known that children who enjoy reading do better in school and have a larger vocabulary (the better do do crosswords with in later years; right, Mags? )
