A day in the life

Of your cat. What do they do all day? are they all the same? Do they have routines?

So I will start with

DENIS

OH gets up and Denis is outside the bedroom door usually all tucked in, you know legs all folded underneath the body, waiting, as he has heard the alarm go off. OH puts his harness on and he goes off into the garden to do his business. He usually stays out there until OH is ready to go to work. Then he comes in and gets on the couch.
I wake up about 1/2 hour after OH goes to work and open the bedroom door and shout Denis and get back into bed. Denis gets under the covers facing my face and puts his front paws on my arm. He has cuddles and falls asleep until I get up.

When I get up Denis stays under the duvet. I get ready for work and bring Denis his breakfast in bed, I like to know he has eaten before I leave. He then goes for a wander around the house. I leave for work.
When I come home he is usually waiting by the front door when I open it. He cries extremely loudly and runs to the living room and onto the couch, or the bedroom and onto the bed. we have lots of cuddles, tummy rubs and face rubs. (this is our grouping moment).
He then goes into the garden, does his business. Comes in has his tea and then goes in and out all night. This alternates with grouping moments.
He settles down around 9 until we go to bed . Then he looks out of our window until he gets asked to leave the room. Then he gets in his pyramid bed and goes to sleep.

Re: A day in the life

What a good thread idea! Yes, Leia has a routine, and as her mom is a Taurus who also likes routine we get on very well! She's usually in the bed with me when I wake up; waits there while I wash/dress etc.and comes down for her breakfast. Then she has a wash-up and a nice nap while I'm off on errands. Greets me when I'm back, helps me unpack and put away things; goes on the porch or the back room while I'm on the computer. Has lunch and has a long afternoon nap until about fourish when I put out trash/recycling, fill the birdfeeder and pick her grass. Eats grass, goes on porch to birdwatch, etc., may have a little romp with her toys if she's in the mood. Then another nap while I'm on computer, fixing and eating dinner and washing up. Then she has her dinner and another long stay on the porch; in to another nap. We have a good play time between 10 and 11: she gets brushed and a nice romp; then a light snack before we go up to bed at 11 to watch the news; then to sleep. Naps in cold weather usually on the radiator, out on the glider on the porch in the Summer.

Re: A day in the life

ronnies stomps around the bungalow about 5 in the morning demanding 1 his breakfast,2 to be let out so he can haqve a fight with the cat up the road. in reality i throw a slipper at him he does a runner then goes back to sleep till 7-30. he then goes out and calls in a neighbours (hes friends with her sammy) for the rest of the day im opening n closing the back door so SIR can go out. he will sleep for a few hours on the bed in the afternoon.about 4 ish he goes back out n vanishes till about 6 (think hes back at the neighbours)
i shut them in about 6/7 ish, they hve their dinner and settle down for the night. he wil setle down on the sofa next to me for tummy tickles.then all i have to say is *bedtime* and he wanders into the bedroom and gets either on the bed or in the basket.
now regie he sleeps some times cuddled up next to me,we hold paws LOL he hooks his paw around my finger. he will then during the night go n sit on the windowsill standing guard making sure all the nastys dont get in.
he will get up about 8 ish, go out do his biz, come straight in, he then sits next to me for strokes. he will be in the bedroom most of the day, and will go to bed about 10/11 ish.
but he dont go out for long does reggie.

Re: A day in the life

Miss Moofi usually wakes me at 6.30 am to be let out - thats if shes happy with the morning temps
She'll be back in about 8am for her Moofi mousse as my hubby has nicknamed the one and only food she'll eat Then she's off into the garden to keep away from Tink who pesteres her relentlessly most of the day - thats if he can find her !!

Dino has 3 passions in life, sleeping, eating and visiting the loo, over and above that if he does do anything else, it makes the local news oh he has been known to catch a leaf, but it was a particularly windy day that day "!

Pepsi is the lady of the house and she tends to let the madness of the others wash over her with an air on contempt She mooches about and fits in as and when the others have decided they've had enough. She's a total sweetie

Terror Tinks - well your guess would be good as mine, he's a 100% outdoor cat and treats our place like a hotel. He honours us with his company at meals times and might flake out on the bed if he's had a particularly trying time chasing rabbits or whooping it up with some other dude he hangs out with

Mainly as you all know, I have to fit in to their lives

Re: A day in the life

Ok all three of my kitties are defiantly different.

Socks wakes up around 6:30 to jump on my bed with that little "pdddrrr" noise and expects to have a quick pet before he goes outside to explore. THAT, or he decides to sleep all day XP I don't usually see him until 6 that afternoon (unless he's sleeping all day then I see him when I come home laying on me bed with Maiah) I usually feed him his meal around that time and he eats it and then explores some more until 6 the next morning ^^

Garfeild dosn't really have a routine. He stays outside...comes in for a backrub...expects to be fed...But he does come in around the same time for the heating pad (He really likes it on his back where it's sore and stuff)

Maiah is ALWAYS around me. Right now she's laying down on my shoulder. But when I'm away I'm told she lays down infront of the door and dosn't budge unless my Dad walks in (Who she is afraid of for some reason) So..Her day revolves around me lol. XP
