You've solved the mystery! I was off Catsey looking it up while you were posting the above, and you're right, it's the lesser celandine! It is a non-native here; no wonder it wasn't in any of the wildflower guides. I wonder how it got to the woods...anyhow, it's very nice to know after all these years what it is! Catsey peeps are so knowledgeable....... |

I just love the difference between UK and US! Over here the lesser celandine is very common - I have it growing all over my garden and sometimes I have to dig them up. They have little bulbils and spread really quickly in shady spots before the leaves appear on the trees. I am so pleased to have been able to solve your mystery! |
