Selkirks tend to go through a teenage stage between 9 and 18 months when they drop their coats anyway (shed a lot of it and lose curl) and this also happens after neutering when the hormone balance changes. His started dropping out in handfuls 4 weeks after neutering although he has retained his curl, he looks like a shorthair at the moment The hormones in females really affect the density, texture and curl as well with calling females/lactating ones often lacking any curl at all. Their coats are prone to seasonal changes as well with longhairs being best Autumn to Spring Yola - Mister F has a lot of Persian blood particularly on his dad's side |

to varying degrees apparently yes with of course the odd exception. Mister F also carries the silver gene and silvers, smokes and shaded tend to shed more "dramatically" I am told and take longer to mature |
