London MarathonAnyone seen/watching the London Marathon....amazing sight in't it. There is a chap of 101 running.........  A blind chap from the Black Country who is running his 7th marathon in 7 days..................... He is running for guide dogs for the blind. Groups from everywhere - Massai Warriors, Gurkaha's, the Army, Firemen, the Met Police. A woman walking it on stilts......... Well done to all. On a personal note my cousin completed her first ever marathon today it was her 50th birthday yesterday. She was running for Shelter (the homeless charity) she did it in 4hours 10 minutes. She raised £900 (approx) And a chap at work Kimji his daughter in law was running for WizzKids - a charity that provides electric wheelchairs for children.  she made it in under 3 hours...very well done she has raised over £1,800 and her work (A dutch bank) told her they would double anything she raised.Lots of people running for personal reasons, personal achievments. Any more personal stories...

I never cease to be amazed by the people that run the marathon - and the costumes some of them do it it! Did you see the Cyberman?? Under 3 hours is an amazing time and good on her employeer for being so supportive. Maybe next year .... |

I would love to run it myself, but have never done enough training to give it a go, and I hate running  Well done to your cousin Kazz, that is an excellent time. One of our friends who is a keen runner did it last year and I think he is running it this year as well. It is amazing to see all of the people who participate, I take my hat off to all of them, especially the older and disabled runners. |

Yes, I'm in awe of the people that take part. I have neither the fitness levels or the stamina to ever even consider it. I was lucky enough in the early days of the marathon to witness the start of it. A friend from art school lived on Shooter's Hill in Blackheath overlooking the park. Although the race was much smaller in the early(ish) 80s it was truly a sight to behold seeing the throngs of runners stream past her house. |

A dad of a boy in my Raechels class was running it for our school By friday we had raised over £400 in sponsorship for him (he only offered to do it for us 2 weeks ago, he was running it anyway but decided to do it for the school at the last minute). As we are trying to raise over £2000 for a jungle jim type climbing frame for the playground, this will go a long way towards it. So a big thanks to Mr Friel |

Well done to all the runners!~ It's nice that they're televising it; we used to get coverage of both the Boston and New York marathons; I never missed watching, but they are no longer covering them...  |
