I could only suggest vet tests. Sounds like he's long-sighted (?!), or partially blind? Maybe he can detect movement and light but not detail? How lovely to hear that he has his own minder |

Do his pupils contract at all if you shine a flashlight at them? That's how I knew Misty had gone blind. I suppose that farsightedness could be possible in a cat; it's caused by the shape of the eyeball being wrong so the light doesn't focus on the correct part of the retina, Have no idea if there are tests for that.... Bless his minder, what a nice cat he is! |

He could be having problems focusing and that is why he can see in the distance and not right in front of him. Do you have an eye specialist at your vets like we do? If so I would make an appointment with them. Keep us up to date. |

When I first got Winston and Mutley, I very soon realised all was not as it should be with Mutley. Took him for a kitten check and what the vet did was, he held his finger out and moved it towards the eye, as his finger almost touched Mutley's eye, he then blinked. The vet said he was completely blind but I am wasnt so convinced as he would sit under the ceiling light in the evenings and stare straight up at it. I think he could possibly see a shadow of you if you were stood in a good light. He had no sense of fear, would run up and down the stairs, jump onto chairs, the bed and even ontop of the tv one day while trying to get at the gerbils |

Well, I did have Mutley and Winston from 6 weeks of age and neither of them ever knew the cruelty or harshness of life that Murphy may have experienced. He's a keeper them Pat |
