London ideas?

As you know I'm off for a day trip to London next week,
Booked the train tickets, managed to snap up a bragin £15 return {each} which I'm pleased about.

We are seeing Billy Elliot but just wonderd if anyone has any good places to go see / visit as we'll have plenty of time there.

Re: London ideas?

London Eye is a MUST! And if you can grab a river trip whilst you're down there you should try for that also. Even though I'm a Londoner I still find something magical about both of these.

I would also say Selfridges or, if you're feeling a bit touristy; Fortum & Mason in Picadilly. But I know you're not much of a shopper so that might not appeal.

Buckingham Palace and the like and a bit of a bore and although the Tower of London is interesting, you'd need to allow the best part of the day to do it justice.

A mooch around Tower Bridge though; seeing the Tower from the outside and a quick bite to eat at St Katherine's Dock ,is nice if you have a couple of hours to kill.

Re: London ideas?

London is great, it always gives me a buzz
A day out there can seem as good as a weekend elsewhere.
I'm a museum junkie so it's heaven. Check out the Museum of London, in the City, down near St Paul's ... fab!
The Eye and the river trip, yep, on a clear day ... wow!
Try and find out if there's a bit of military stuff going down, always great to hear the band and see the guards
Have a great day out Smudgely!

Re: London ideas?

I used to love living in London, I would say definitely pop to Oxford Street if you're a shopper. Hyde Park is lovely if the weather is nice! I agree about the eye, and Leicester Square is good fun! OOOOO and covent garden, there is a lovely little restaurant in the market, which always has classical musicians, I love it there even if I only have a coffee its a lovely atmosphere!

Ooooh I'm jealous, I do miss London!
Take lots of pics, look forward to seeing them soon! x

Re: London ideas?

Having been there and done it recently, I would definitely recommend the London Eye and the River Cruise.....
