What I got for my birthday...Actually, the day after my birthday.  From my fiance's Mum:  From my fiance's little sister (best smelling candle EVER):  From my fiance:    This pocket watch is absolutely gorgeous. So shiny! It has my initials engraved on the front (NDD / Nathaniel Dorian Dale) and is what I've always wanted. I have three pocket watches already, but none are actually clockwork, they're battery! I love this to bits, it is the most relaxing thing ever to watch the movement ticking away. Also instead of a second hand, it has a quarter-of-a-second hand which moves super-speedy.

Actually, my birthday was uneventful and rather depressing, I got a single card from my Mother. But today with my fiance was lovely and my sister is visiting tomorrow so it feels like a long birthday after my real birthday (friday). |

I'm so happy your birthday turned out OK. I always find them a bit depressing; mainly because my OH doesn't really take the time to think about what I'd want and leave it till the last minute  I adore that watch you've received. I love clocks; old ones, anyway. We have several, including a temperamental long-case one. Yours is so very special, and the engraving make it all the more so. Your fiancee must think the world of you, which is lovely. |

My fiance and his family (minus his Father who hates me, as he seems to think that I made his son gay) are absolutely brilliant. You can see why I love my fiance so much!  It is the absolute perfect gift, as I have an obsession with pocket watches, although now I need to buy a nice waistcoat. |
