Wrapped up for winter!

Earlier, I had promised Eileen that I would post a photo of my tree fern and I must apologise because I forgot. So seeing that frost is forecast tonight and I needed to protect the fern, here are some photos ......

Then I held the fronds while my OH put the fleece bag over the top ................

................ and yes, I am still inside the bag!!!

Now that looks a fun garden job!
Glorious fern - will he keep those fronds through the winter and start to grow more again next spring?

Depends DM - I understand that in good horticultural practice, the fronds should be kept but I have never managed it and I'm afraid that they will be dead next spring. However the crown is packed with straw and that should be fine and will soon sprout again.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud at your wee foot sticking out the bottom! What a beautiful fern, a proud mum wrapping it up for winter
