Morning all! I woke up realy early to the sound of hailstones battering against the window and it felt so good to know I didn't have to get up and snuggle back into bed. I was working y'day, so only have one day off this weekend, and made the most of my lie in! I'll be painting the hall today, finally. It'll just be me as OH doesn't enjoy it much and as it's a narrow hall we might just keep banging into each other. It means the boys will need to get shut into the living room and their litter moved in there for the day - they will not be happy, probably constantly meow and scratch for the full 5 hours that it takes. But the hall, connects all other rooms, so tough luck boys! Mags, Kado, I too will be remembering. Hearing that it would be your grandad's birthday made me smile Kado, it reminded me of my Grandad. As a kid growing up you think of them as the grandparent, old, doing crosswords, living in a quiet village, not much changing day-to-day but then when you get older you realise what they did when they were younger and how simply amazing it was, and how it puts any everyday worries we have into perspective. My grandad was in the secret service and was sworn to secrecy for 50 years so when he turned 75 or so one day he turned round to my grandma and told her what he'd actually done in the war. It was amazing, and made me very proud. Have a lovely, and peaceful, remembrance Sunday all. |

Hello!, sorry I don't get on here much but with the pc upstairs in the spare room, and a pup that needs watching as he is rather mischievous, it's a bit tricky. I think Santa may be bringing me a lap-top this year so I'll be able to go online in the sitting room. I usually manage a quick read of everything just before going to bed but I never seem to find time to post. Pup is currently asleep on OH's feet so I've sneaked away! I've just done a rather large Lakeland order, it's amazing how many things you discover that you absolutely must have even though you'd never thought of them before! I haven't started on Christmas shopping yet but the cake was done 2 weeks ago and is mellowing in a whisky haze! I try to do a different one each year and my favourite flavour is Calvados but it was OH's choice this year. It's awfully windy outside, should be interesting in the woods when we all go out in a minute. Will check in again at bedtime! |

Afternoon Started off nice today but it's horrid slanting rain now. Took Dominik horseriding; it was SOOO cold up there that I ended up swinging by another riding school and getting his a big windproof jacket and HIS OWN pair of jodphurs He looks cool!! This afternoon a photograher came around to take some passport photos (mine runs out next year) and the boys need new ones as they only have baby pics on theirs. I have wasted SO much money in the photo booths only for us to come out looking like thugs that I thought £60.00 for the 4 of us taking in our own home was quite a bargain Cooking a lovely apricot/lamb tagine (Welsh lamb) with brocolli and mash and it's smelling delightful. Oh, and am going to investigate getting an allotment . . . |

Afternoon, people! Lovely sunny day here, a bit chiller than the last two, only 14C now, but can't complain! Did a market run and nothing planned for the afternoon but the crosswords, paper and organizing photos in PB. So slow with dial-up! I've finished Christmas shopping on line, all but one person who's impossible to buy for .... Yola: had to laugh at your description of passport photos...my Dad was a nice looking man, but his made him look like a Mafia member! Horrible! Exciting about the allotment! Elaine: nice to see you back, even briefly; how's the cold? Meep: lovely story about your granddad! Disregard the comment I made about the cats enjoying the day; hadn't read the Daily when I posted.. MrsH; pics of Morgan? He must be growing like a weed.. I think Churchill's comment about the RAF applies to all the brave servicemen and women we're honoring... Never have so many owed so much to so few ...... |

Always get lump in my throat today. My grandad had two brothers who were killed in WW1 in France. We always would sit and talk about them today especially so they were not forgotten. Only one has a grave, I think that must have been so hard for his family. The boys were only 18 and 19. Babies really. Been out working with the sheep today - freezing cold and hailstones. We put the males out with the girls next week, hope weather is not too bad, fingers crossed we have lots of expectant mummies come April. Now in for night. Trying to decide what to eat for dinner - week two of diet - need to plan a bit more than usual. CM |
