Another wet visitor (3) Beware Matron!


A rather bedraggled and wet sparrowhawk - kept swooping over the lawn after our blue tits. Happily, he didn't manage to catch one and flew off with an empty tummy. Mixed feelings really as we do have plenty of blue tits.

WOW your very lucky to get a photo, by the time I had got my camera out the bag it would have disappeared.
Few month back we had one come into the garden and take a bluetit, I missed the whole thing, girl friend told me all about it when I got out the shower

Yes it was a lucky shot Matt - although it did stay, swoop off and come back to the same perch a couple of times.

I agree about mixed feelings about visitors like that - gorgeous but deadly!

A lovely little raptor! A few years ago I had one catch, pluck and devour a sparrow in my back yard...no camera in those days! It is a bit sad, but he's just part of the chain of life...
