Daily thread - Thursday

one week from today .........

What a dark dark morning! Nearly 9am and it's still quite murky, although it is warm and looks as if it will be a perfectly pleasant dry day. Never mind, only a couple more days and we can start to anticipate longer lighter days.

It was so nice yesterday afternoon that we sat under the verandah with our cuppas (We were admiring some xmas lights we'd just put up on it) It was fine just to sit in the sun for a few minutes - couldn't have settled there with my book!

The pheasant preparation wasn't too gory and the ensuing casserole, with brandy, button mushrooms etc was absolutely gorgeous. Supper for us, a supper delivered for Jill and Tony and a further meal in the fridge for Friday evening. There was still a lovely aroma hanging around the kitchen this morning - Dinah must have enjoyed that as she slept and had happy dreams! I put the remains of the carcasses in the hedge up the lane, near a fox run, so I hope they found and enjoyed too!

Nowt else in the way of news. Have a good day and keep well - keep those xmas colds at bay

Morning H! Good that the casserole was so tasty . . . and brave you for battling with the pheasant. My bird phobia would mean I'd have run a mile (or stood there crying)

Another wonderful, full night's sleep. Sebastian sleeps in beyond us now and doesn't even get roused by Dominik's alarm clock . . . WHAT a change

In the office today; we're taking the staff out to a lovely, traditional, local pub which serves superb food for lunch. Their pressies are under the tree and apart from a slightly dickey tummy - I'm feeling great

DM - I would have screamed if I had been brought those birds. I'm with Yola on the phobia but glad your casserole was a triumph.

Yola - Can you tell Sebi to tell Poppy what's the secret in sleeping so long?

Same old waiting game here. Dropped off Christmas pressies and posted my Catsey secret Santa ones too

Ironing and cooking this afternoon. Had to make Christmas plan B in case mother in law is still with us as at present everyone is coming to ours. Good old mum stepping in if needed.

It appears Bess is house trained now. She will wee on her puppy pad at night but won't wake us now. She is clean by day after only 9 days so I guess that's good going or maybe not???

May get some more wine in for emergancy measures only

Gloomy weather here, but no rain! 3c now, wind chill 1. But we have gained a whole 3 minutes of daylight in the evening now! Market run, no news here except that I'm still procrastinating about wrapping...

DM, casserole sounds delicious, and how kind to share with the foxes! Did you skin them or dry-pluck?
Yola: excellent news about Sebi's sleeping!
Matron: sure you'll find an emergency for the wine to be opened..

Stay warm and dry, people!

Re: Daily thread - Thursday

hello, all. just woke up as i was up until almost 5am before i could sleep last "night" (err..this morning)
snow looks the same as yesterday. many places have closed including our vet which OH was gonna swing by and pick up all the pill refills for today. guess we'll have to brave it tomorrow or early morning saturday (their hours are very short on saturdays and they're closed on sundays).
the kids have pills to last them through sunday night (one doggie, and two kitties)
still kinda waking up and enjoying being inside from the weather.
take care, all!
