New amaryllis

This is one of the cibister amaryllises that come from South America, unlike the larger flowered Dutch amaryllis which are from South Africa. The variety is called Sumatra. They're unusual and I rather like the flower shape. Have four of the regular ones in bud now.

That's beautiful Eileen, so different to the ones I have........ the stamens are long on yours and it has a more delicate look. How many buds have you got on that one?

Re: New amaryllis

It has two buds, Mags, and there are five flowers on the opened one. The other new one, a dark red has two bud stalks also. One of the old ones also has two, the other two just one bud, but as they've never been repotted in new soil, can't complain.

My agapanthus which is Wintering inside has made two offshoots...should I repot them come Spring?

You certainly do well with your amaryllis .....I hope I can keep mine until next Christmas too!

My agapanthus has always been outside in a pot and I've never touched it for years. However this year I divided it and planted it directly into the ground. It has a few new shoots but I haven't thought of repotting them ........I'll see if I can google anything about it

Re: New amaryllis

Hmmmm. Think I will just separate the offshoot bulbs the way I did with the yellow amaryllis!
