Daily thread - Blue Monday

Well apparently we're all due to be hyper stressed today, after the festive break and with added chill factor and finacial woes etc etc. The radio suggested either shout very loudly for a second or two, or go somewhere quiet, close your eyes and b.r.e.a.t.h.e. for a few seconds. I don't think I'll be doing either.
It's not quite so cold here - no overnight frost at least. I'll check it out later when I'm out with Dinah. Then I must go to the butcher for some chesse ... yeah, I know , we're only a little town and don't have a deli-shop, so the butcher does good cheese.
I'm on my usual January de-tox, after the excesses of the season, so I'm off alcohol for the month. Hope I don't replace the alcohol calories with chocolate ones but at least my liver can take a break.
Have a lovely day everyone and enjoy getting back into routine

Re: Daily thread - Blue Monday

Had a restless night . . . a combination of cheese last thing at night and Sebi waking a couple of times. It's cold and icy here, but wet icy rather than the lovely bright, crisp days of late.

Boys have been as usual wreaking havoc but are now DVD-ing and DS-ing upstairs. I'm off for a shower shortly and will then tackle bedlinen laundry, client emails, appointment booking (Domi haircut) and whatever else is thrown at me. No doubt OH will call from the office with tales of some crisis or other

All very happy here (well, as long as I don't have to go out in it lol. Hayley has toddled off to the back garden, the chickens refuse to come out of the coop and set foot in it

Re: Daily thread - Blue Monday

Morning all! And more importantly, Happy New Year!!! Sorry it's late, I've been absent for quite some time but am now back

Had two weeks off work, and the break was a strange one. The two weeks went far too quickly for a start. Went home for Christmas and it was pretty stressful with lots of people arguing and shouting at different points. It was absolutely baltic for New Year so I didn't venture to any parties as they were all too far away for walking! So, I join the down in the dumps brigade on this Monday.

I wasn't looking forward to starting work either, as I'd left things in a lull before the holiday, and I now have a LOT to pick up on. It didn't help that when I came in this morning the heating was broken! It was as cold inside as out, and it was literally 0 degrees freezing this morning. So motivation was at an all time low.

But now heating is fixed, and I'm feeling a bit more awake. I too am doing a detox, get-fit regime. I don't need to lose weight so much as tone up. I still weigh the same on the scales but all muscles has gone and has been replaced by fat in akward places (ie hips!!!) so my jeans no longer fit Rather than shell out to buy new ones, I'm going to cut out all chocolate (my 1 major deadly sin), hit the gym 6 times a week, and watch what I eat until my body shape gets a bit more athletic again! I'm also using this website, http://www.foodfocus.co.uk which another Catsey member had recommended on the get-fit thread. I'm not trying to lose actual physical weight on the scales as I said, but it's a great method of keeping track of what I@m eating, what I'm burning at the gym, and most importantly keep me motivated!

Anyway, sorry for that rather long update, not meaning to hog the thread! I've just been gone for so long had a bit to catch up on!

Most importantly my two boys are doing well We left them alone for two nights over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,w ith plently food, water and cat litter, and came back to find them tip-top. Not one wee peep of complaint, all the food eaten, no furniture destroyed, and as affectionate as always So that was a relief.

Hope everyone is well and not too down about this bluesy Monday!

What a lovely scene Alex ......and those chooks look slightly confused by the it all!

Well it looks like we had a dusting of snow during the night as well, there are still traces of it in the back garden. It's cold but sunny here ........our local met. station has forecast us -6 for tonight ....yikes!!

Jane
~ sorry you're feeling so rough, stay warm and drink plenty (non alcoholic)

Hope everyone's slowly getting back to normality, have a good day!

Re: Daily thread - Blue Monday

Hi all - blue sky and freezing here. Slight rain last night and froze overnight so OH and the Landrover skated down to the papershop this morning.

Off to do some clear up in the barn this afternoon. That will help burn off some calories and make a space.

Enjoy your day

Re: Daily thread - Blue Monday

Blue Monday??? more like Black Monday for me
dreadful w/e of cold misery and bad happenings in work.
Posh has been out of sorts and has a nasty sticky eye; appointment with vet pending, so looks like show on Saturday is a no-no

I'm so tired and stressed, need a holiday and can't wait to go away in February.

Sorry,to be a misery but I'm all tuckered out!
