Yola's Allotment Thread :-)

Right, I've got the proverbial anorak on as work has started on my plot of mud

Here's OH during Saturday's beautiful weather, attacking the flattening of the soil in preparation for the slab laying:

And here are the two little mud magnets digging their own holes!! HOW much fun can they have with spades and a wheelbarrow

So, the shed is now up so hopefully if Sunday's nice we will be down there painting and also planning out our beds. I might be radical and consider triangular raised beds . . .

Sad to report that the bee hives are not longer there. They've been removed to make way for more allotments.

*edit to say, just behind those trees is the River Thames so there's constant cackling of geese and shouts of rowers/skullers on the river

My word, Yola, that's bigger than I visualized! Looks very nice! A lot of work there, but will be so rewarding to have all that lovely home grown produce...have you decided what you'll plant yet?

Good luck with this very worthwhile project. I do hope you will keep this thread up to date with what you're doing - I will be interested to know how it goes.

Eileen, the allotment stops at the pallets behind the boys . . . that is then 'next door'! Nevertheless it's about 120sqm. And as for digging I love it despite being very slow at it - OH was doing the clever stuff of levelling which I'm hopeless at LOL we'd end up with a sloping shed

Same here, it is looking good and will be good for the children to help out there with you, you will have to have just a little bed for them to work from so they can look after it themselves and grow some things that will be interesting for them

I can't level either.................I wonder if that is a purely male mentality thing....levelling
