David Cameron's son

How sad that his son Ivan who was only 6 died this morning.
He had a particularly severe form of epilepsy as well as cerebral palsy and died in hospital shortly after admission.
Both main party leaders have now suffered the death of their first-born, Gordon and Sarah Brown lost a daughter at just 10 days old a few years ago.
Awful to lose a child!

RIP Ivan

This was very sad news this morning. Dreadful to lose a child, even if the prognosis had never been very good. My sympathies go to the Camerons.

Re: David Cameron's son

I was very saddened when I saw the news. I think because the lives of politicians are so subject to media speculation and open to the public, and so many people have different opinons of Cameron as a party leader and of his party. But in a matter like this, it makes everyone human and hopefully creates a respect for privacy into his personal life.

RIP Ivan.

I heard the sad news at lunchtime MrsH ......how tragic and such an awful loss for the family to cope with. No matter how handicapped or ill your child is, you can never really prepare yourself for something like this happening...

My heart goes out to the family...

RIP Ivan

No parent should ever have the pain of burying their child.
Poor Ivan was so dreadfully handicapped though ...
I wish them strength through their pain

Re: David Cameron's son

I just can't imagine for a second how they can find the strength to overcome this kind of loss. It must just tear your heart out. I hope Ivan can now rest in peace free from his short life of suffering and his parents and siblings are able to come to terms with a future without him.

I agree Yola, he must have suffered in his short life and that is so sad, at least he is at peace now. I can't imagine what it must be like to lose a child, whatever the circumstances, my heart goes out to the family.

Re: David Cameron's son

Such very very sad news. I have been quite tearful about it all with having a 'special' child too although medically very different. I can not imagine the pain David and Sam and their other 2 children are going through. It is so true that having a special child is a very rewarding one and a privillage.

Heaven's Special Child

A meeting was held quite far from earth.
It’s time again for another birth.

Said the angels to the Lord above.
This special child will need much love.

His progress may seem very slow;
Accomplishments he may not show;

And he’ll require extra care
From the folks he meets down there.

He may not run or laugh or play;
His thoughts may seem quite far away.

In many ways he won’t adapt,
And he will be known as handicapped.

Oh let’s be careful where he’s sent,
We want this life to be content.

Please, Lord, find the parents who
Will do a special job for you.

They will not realize right away
The leading role they are asked to play.

But with this child sent from above
Comes a stronger faith and richer love.

And soon they’ll know the privilege given
In caring for this gift from heaven.

Their precious charge so meek and mild
Is heaven’s very special child.

RIP Ivan
