Any Other Birdwatchers Out There?

I love birding - and it's coming up on spring migration!

Anyone else on here a birder (or is it twitcher? )?

I may be coming to England this fall (seems like I can make it there every two years or so) and would LOVE to know some really good birding spots before I plan the trip.

Thanks!

Jeannine

Hi ozgirl! I love watching the birds although I wouldn't call myself a twitcher! I'll have a look and see if I can find any links that may interest you.

I think 'twitcher' has a pretty bad connotation in England.. I'm not RABID, but I do bird alot (at least in the spring during migration...)

I enjoy watching the birds; have had a feeder forever. Ozgirl, have you seen many blue jays? Saw the first in ages last week, West Nile did a number on them here, used to be so common. It won't be long before we will see and hear the geese migrating North; I love to look up and see the vee of them honking ...they sound like beagles!

I meant to ask you Eileen - did you see the Cardinals last year?

Yes I did, Angie; such lovely birds. My catbirds should be back soon also.

Re: Any Other Birdwatchers Out There?

We also love watching the birds and have feeders... my other cat.. George... also LOVES watching birds...from the window of course... being an indoor cat.. we have a few different feeders around our property... he George does what we call "birdie patrol".. he sits in the various windows and chatters and clicks... its so funny to watch... on a couple of occassions there have been birds come up close to the window where he is... (why im not sure.. surely they can see him through the glass) and he nearly has a heart attack! it's hilarious to watch.

It is funny watching them chittering in the window at the birds, some more so than others. Leia doesn't pay much attention to them.

Re: Any Other Birdwatchers Out There?

We have feeders directly outside 3 different windows. Merlin and Smudge also used to watch and chatter a bit like monkeys, but after a while they seemed to lose interest presumably because they realised they couldn't catch the birds and didn't feel like expending the energy!

Could you try and get a picture of a Cardinal for me this year please Eileen??? I would dearly love to see a "real" one!
