Rescued battery hens....now there's a thought!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7947984.stm

These poor hens have often been pictured almost featherless when they are rehomed .......what a good idea to give them some woolly warmth during the winter..

I would have named the hen shown in the link, Josephine for obvious reasons...

How sweet - and what a stylish hen she is. Josephine, I think though Mags!

I have a friend who rescued some battery hens . . . they live in eggloos in her garden (cool plastic henhouses ).

If I weren't afraid of birds AND had a bigger garden I would be right there helping rehome these poor things.

We've had rescue battery hens before, they were lovely girls although one of them was badly lame. We only had them for a couple of weeks before they crossed the bridge but at least they spent their last days in the sunshine, with lots of comfy bedding

That was an uplifting story, Mags, thanks for the link! Those poor hens, I'm sure they're enjoying the warmth of those cute sweaters!

If I had a pattern I wouldn't mind knitting a few sweaters for them too!
