Am I the only Scaredy Cat ....

Oh Wow we have had some thunder and lightening here in the East Midlands this tea time - the power kept flicking off and on and I was quaking in my flip flops as usual, nearly hitting the floor every time it lightened. I am so frightened of it it is a real bind. Even Tess and Felix jumped and got off their comfy settee and Tess ran under it to hide. The thunder was quite close though I think someone else got the worse of it (poor them!) It also hailed too and the cars looked like they were covered in snow. I thought the world was coming to an end! (you can see I get quite dramatic at times of stress and thunderstorms.) Any other thunder phobes out there cus I dont know anyone else like me ! Jan x

Jan, I'm sort of phobic about bad storms too; the thunder and especially the lightning are quite scary! Oddly enough,it never seems to bother any of the cats I've had .....

Re: Am I the only Scaredy Cat ....

I'm not generally frightened of storms, but I was once. We had just moved into our current house, my OH had gone back to work and my two cats were frightened and jumpy anyway. We had an enormous storm and I ended up under the bed covers! Funnily though the railway station in the town we had just moved from was struck by lightening during that storm!

I do quite often feel sicky during a storm, even if I'm not actually scared. Hope you are feeling better now - it sounds as if you did have a horrible time this afternoon.

Just an update on the storm Tuesday tea time - a village about 3 miles away seemed to be at the centre of the storm and a building was struck by lightening and badly damaged, apparently it was an office and the staff had to move a bit quick. Luckily no one was hurt but the road was closed yesterday as the building was made safe. The neighbours were quoted as saying it sunded like a bomb going off. It makes me shake to think about it !

Very scary I really don't like storms - especially at night. Lightening when it's dark frightens me I don't like it too much when it's daytime either. The cats are usually oblivious

The worst storm I ever experienced was on a Polish YMCA holiday in Austria in 1983 . . . we were in a hostel part way up a mountain and we were 'in' the storm as the clouds came down around us. And it went on . . . and on . . . and on for all the night. Not nice!

I love thunder Storms.
When we were younger I remember being in my friends back garden on the swings and it looked think it was going to thunder so anyway we were swinging on the swings singing thunder ch, ch, ch, thunder ch, ch, ch, thunder ch, ch, ch..... Then it did and you should of seen how quick we jumped off the swings and into the house lol so funny.
