I don't think I was posting here when the same thing happened here - where Dinah and I walk by the river. The dog escaped, it's owner, a lady from the next town, didn't. Don't, don't dont' go in water after your dog. Chances are it will survive anyway . |

Couple of conflicting stories appear to be popping up from "eye" witnesses....but the general understanding I have got is that the lady fell/jumped in and got into difficulty her partner (who grew up swimming in the river) picked the pushchair up with their daughter in made sure she was safe and away from the water, was securely strapped in and then jumped in after his partner....so sad.In this case the lady was pulled from the water but died shortly or at site and the mans body was picked up next day along with the dogs bodies. What a terrible terrible tragedy.......I agree Hilary but sometimes its spur of the moment I imagine and something you/she/I may have done before waded/reached in got them out and off you go. |

A very sad thing. We had a similar story here last week: young boy slipped and fell into the Potomac, where the undertow is very strong and dangerous; his father and a good Samaritan jumped in to save the boy....only the father survived. |
