Re: Rainy Friday

I'll try not to gloat but it's another lovely day.
The house is quiet because the pets have gone to kennels; I've been to the allotment and watered and left it well, so a bit of watering round the garden here, throw a few things in a bag and once OH finishes work at lunchtime we're off to Twickenham for the England round of the IRB Sevens. Not quite as exotic as San Diego but never mind!
I'm taking the notepad, so may be around if there's time. If not- see you Monday or Tuesday; have a great BH weekend and may the sun shine on everyone.

Re: Rainy Friday

Morning Janey, DM. Where is everybody?

Lovely day here and looks warm out - I have only just got washed and dressed as I had a bad night and only got a couple of hours sleep, so had to go back to bed and try and catch up a bit. Feel rough. Does anyone know how long the perimeno lasts?

I may go and sit outside and supervise Kizzy's outing in the garden today. She's eager to go out now!

MIL has had 3 bad days on the trot - she is either hallucinating or asleep. She started a new medication on Wednesday, but this bad patch started before that. OH is getting quite upset and of course the CMHTOP nurse is off next week as it's half term. As you can imagine, Kizzy is my little "comfort blanket" atm.

Have a great day everyone. Hope you enjoy your weekend DM and cross fingers it keeps fine.

Re: Rainy Friday

It's sunny and warm here too. HAve been to Dominik's year assembly where all 13 of them performed songs, poems and readings based on dragons (both the Komodo and St George variety). It was lovely
Just back from town now with Sebi (we're locking horns currently over changing of a nappy) and am shortly going to run to the allotment to let my gravel delivery in.

Then it'll be off to the garden centre for some more boards for edging the beds and some baby cauliflower plants (oh, OH called to say the globe artichokes have arrived at the office) so maybe I'll only get 1/2 dozen cauli plants. Then back to the allotment for a bit then out to get Dominik from school and back to the lottie for another hour or two!!

I think I'll get them sausage rolls or something for an allotment tea

Re: Rainy Friday

This morning I went back to the school I retired from for the leavers' assembly for year 13.

This had been my year group, I'd been with them on their first day at the comprehensive and it was lovely being with them on their last day. I'd seen them first as fresh-faced, eager children and it was so moving seeing them all grown-up and ready for the big wide world. They were a wonderful group to be associated with and they have such great plans for university, or gap-year, voluntary work, or temporary work to build up funds for university.

I really hope all their dreams come true, it was a privilege sharing their schooldays with them.

Re: Rainy Friday

Nice and mild here, 23C, but has clouded over. Rain isn't predicted till the Monday holiday (naturally!). I set out the scallions this morning after the market run, and am going to plant the bean seeds this afternoon; think the soil has finally warmed up enough,,,will be in the 28 degree range for the next week.

DM. hope you have good weather for your outing. MrsH, that sounds like a lovely reunion for you with your pupils. Angie, sorry about MIL, glad that Kizzy's enjoying the great outdoors; here's a link that might be helpful. My change was very uneventful, few symptoms except more energy! I was just delighted to be finished with it! Yola, fresh cauliflower sounds wonderful!

Dm what holiday is it in the USA?

It's Memorial Day here, Kazz, honoring the war dead. What is your Bank Holiday for? Sorry about the toothache, they're horrible! Perimeno = pre-menopause.

The moon is waning, probably not the best time to plant the bean seed, but the weather will be so warm that I went ahead and did it anyhow. These are the borlotto shell beans; discovered them years ago and love them...cannot buy in the market ..have to grow them if you want them.!

Some years ago there was a Bank Holiday for the Monday after Whit Sunday (Pentecost) Then some bright spark decided to secularise the holiday and gave it a fixed date of the last Monday in May.

It hasn't got a proper name now except for Spring Bank Holiday, pathetic isn't it?
