Thursday daily

Good morning - a coolish but dry morning here.
A day to see what has happened to the allotment whilst I've been away ... looking at the garden at home I have a feeling of some trepidation! That's what comes of going away at the wrong time for the garden but the right time for significant birthdays.
We had a nice meal last night - tuna steak and harissa chips for him, crayfish and rocket risotto for me. And SIX puddings! A really nice idea, with just a couple of spoonfulls of tasty things in oversize shot glasses. It was fun to share.
So - dog walk and gardening to take up most of 'office hours' - I'll get back later.

Re: Thursday daily

Hi there,
It is raining very hard here today which is abit annoying as I am wanting to get quite a bit of washing washed and dried ready for our holidays on Wednesday.

DM - Glad that you had a lovely meal last night and WOW six puddings (yummy)

Have a great day Pauline, Maxi and Maisy Moo Xxx.

Re: Thursday daily

I couldn't live without my tumble dryer!! Having a garden the size of a postage stamp means my dryer gets action all the year around.

DM - I love those little taster deserts. When I had no children and more money we used to go to some nice eateries that did these 'taster' puds . . . a nice idea!

Today it's overcast but dry and warm. The blasted flies in the office are driving me crazy; must remind OH to spray the room thoroughly when he leaves tonight. It's the boys' last full day at school today - tomorrow they are only there until midday. Then next week it's holiday care . . . they are back at school but for wall-to-wall play time and fun and games. I have the added hassle of making up packed lunches

Must get on as having been out of the office pretty well all week, I have much to catch up on!

Re: Thursday daily

Soft Fruit Alert!
Strawberries, raspberries, boysenberries, gooseberries, redcurrants (the birds having eaten the blackcurrants before I had chance to net them ). Pounds and pounds of them. The strawberries are only just OK, so have to be eaten quickly, the bosenberries have already been frozen, the gooseberries will be frozen tomorrow when I can face the topping and tailing, raspberries will sit in the fridge till I decide what to do with them.
The allotment wasn't too bad at all from 2 weeks of neglect - I must be doing something right!

Re: Thursday daily

How many gooseberry bushes do you have DM? We have only one and had a bumper crop this year. Made 3 lots of jam and 3 servings of fool!!! Guesstimate 12 lbs - off one bush!

Early raspberries have all been eaten - we have the autumn ones still to come.

Re: Thursday daily

I've two full grown bushes Angie - the only thing I inherited on my otherwise neglected and overgrown allotment. They're red ones. A bumper crop for me too - lovely plump berries and pounds and pounds of them. I've still a few more to pick but gave in to the complaints of my back and left some for tomorrow. I don't know what weight I've picked - it's a carrier bag full and it feels very heavy!
