The chooks are out

Let them out yesterday and they had a ball. They have been out since 2pm today and are still pecking and scratching - hopefully they'll put themselves to bed again.

I really thought they were going to take off with the amount of wing flapping and running up the field.

Anyway as I promised to bore you all to death with my chooks here are some more pics of the girls.

Hilda

Martha

Doris

Matilda

The three girls having a discussion about the dust bathing area

They won't let wee Matilda join in - so I gave her one of her own

....and lastly, a visitor to the hen coop!!!!!!

I for one am neither bored with nor tired of chook pics! It is so lovely to see them outside being normal chickens, pecking, scratching and dust bathing...what a wonderful change for them ..... the way they should live. And like the visitors too ... lamb jumping is so cute!

They are really looking good CM. I promise not to get bored with chook pictures either! Hilda still gets my vote for prettiest girly. How many more eggs have you had ..... are you managing to eat them all???

Hilda is a very nice hen. When the sun shines on her the colours are quite amazing.

Doris has given us a blue egg every day.
Martha has laid a lovely pale brown egg every day bar one.
Hilda has laid one spectacular galaxy chocolate coloured egg.
Matilda is POL and is just thinking about it! Her comb is still quite pale so a wee while yet I think.

So far OH and I have only had one each. The rest have been taken by family/friends for tasting sessions!!!!

They are so addictive - I could watch them all day.

Lovely - no boredom here either,
Isn't it funny how some names just fit hens? All yours have wonderful henny names!

Re: The chooks are out

Glad you all enjoyed. Poor souls are hiding under the hedge today asit is so wet. I love to watch them from the window just scratching about and having a great time.

Matilda will let me pick her up for a cuddle now -
