A very soggy Good Afternoon from me! What a horrible lot of wet weather we are having. I was talking to OH earlier and we remember many such summer holidays from our childhoods - my main memories are of travelling around the Cotswolds with my parents and aunt and uncle in similar wet weather, lovely views obliterated by low cloud and then my dad and uncle trying to get the primus stove going so we could all have a nice warming cup of tea. My male cousin, who was a couple of months older than me always seemed to be excused such trips for some reason! We used to sing a lot to keep up our spirits. Luckily, my aunty had a lovely voice ......... those were the days. So this weather really is nothing new, just good old traditional English summer weather! Anyway - luckily the weather is warm, dry and balmy at the venue of the Cats' Summer Ball which is today ....... hopefully those who are arranging various parts of it, CM, American DM, me and anyone else who wants to be involved plus all our lovely feline friends will be posting in due course - come one, come all! Virtual fun for all ......... |

Another wet and gloomy day here also! My daughter and her family set off for their holiday in Devon this morning, just had a message from her to say they arrived safely ........and yes, it's raining there too and cold!! She said it was good to smell the sea air though... I'm hoping it will clear up sometime this week as we are also off down to Devon next Saturday. Cassie is a stay indoors cat this weather ......eat and sleep! Hope you all have a good weekend and someone is lucky enough to catch some sunshine! |

Hiya all Done a bit of background work for CP. Made 2 call backs but people still not answering.....will keep trying. Murky day here it seems like Oct rather than August....sad really...maybe the sumers of our childhood were the same but we imagine them differently because we were children...to children rain is a cause for a different time of fun ....to adults its yuk. Have a good day all. |

August 1st already! Summer (such as it's been) is flying past! Although today is most un-Augustlike here: brilliant sun, blue cloudless skies, nice breeze and low humidity; wish I could send it over to all of you who're sick of the rain. Angie's post got me thinking, and seem to recall childhood Summers as endless sunny days, although it must have rained. I do remember when I was quite small making paper boats and sailing them down the gutter in the stream of water after a heavy rain..... Kazz has a good point about kids and rain .... Usual Saturday here: to the library to pick up my hold (Rollins - Doomsday Key) and got my gin. No plans for the afternoon except attending the Cats Summer Ball! Hope there will good attendance , as it sounds like a lovely party! See you there! |

Miserable here too. Trekked around town and got a few bits - tricky with the kids in tow as all they wanted to do was play catch in the shops Feeling a bit under par today, got a nasty touch of vertigo. That's about it - must go and veg on the sofa! |

OK, all you folks trekking down here (Devon) for your fantasy summer hols ............. have you packed yer wellies? If not, nip into the first shop you pass on your way and buy some, and some serious wet weather gear as well. I'm sure you'll have fun, albeit soggy but there are quite a few good things to see and do apart from the beach (dead loss ). Welcome to you all and enjoy your wonderful Devon clotted cream teas at least. |
