That's very sad catwoman. No, no smoking here now, although both me and OH used to with cats around too. Both cats happily lived to good ages but probably more by luck. We gave up over 2 years ago, so have never smoked whilst Kizzy or Pip have been with us. |

Not something I've ever come across before either. It's not relevant here as I stopped smoking some time ago, prior to that my intake was quite low (under 10 a day) My parents always smoked quite heavily around their pets, no-one thought anything of it at that time, fortunately they didn't have anything like this happen. |

I used to smoke infront of the cats but as I stopped almost 7 years ago, that's over 50% of their lives smoke-free. I only smoked in certain areas of the house though so they were not always with me. It did regularly occur to me that their health might be being compromised - so it's very sad to hear about your friend's cat |

I have heard about this before. So very sad for your friends cat. Neither myself or OH or grown-up children have ever smoked and I would never allow anyone to smoke in our house, so thankfully none of my pets have been subjected to smoke while they have been here. |

Thats a very sad story. My three cats are indoor cats and my husband and myself have never smoked. Nobody else is allowed to smoke in the house either. |

I am a non smoker, but there was an (short) article in Your Cat magazine about the dangers of smoking around the cats. We had a cat once in our local Cats Protection which obviously been in a smoking house. She was only 2 and already was severely renal. She also stank for 2 months of cigarette smoke, and that was despite several baths..... Whoever cleaned her out literally had to hold their nose. |
