Bonfire Thursday

Well its Bonfire night tonigh if the rain holds off. Its also my eldest niece Katies 17th today too. Doesn't feel like I have known her 17 years..... ....but shes gone from a lovely child to a smashing young adult.

Anyhow, its raining here just took Mom to the hospital she is having a camera down her throat to check out if she is suitable for an op to improve her eating as its got worse lately. ...anyhow she will be in for the morning, Dad is in the same hospital having some tests...he went in yesterday back this afternoon about the same time as Mom...so all quiet here..... ...just had bacon and scrambled eggs...yummy.

Got some washing in...tumble dryer will be in use then, due to the weather, hjave already done a coouple of CP calls and done a food shop. Off back out in between the rain to take Sal out, then off to take a chair to my sisters then to the travel agent get some info.....on Eygpt for next year I am taking Katie for her 18th.

Got other things to do too so may see you later maybe not have a good day all.

Happy Bonfire night.

Re: Bonfire Thursday

Busy laundry day today, just taking a lunch break from the ironing, will do the tee-shirts in a little while then I'm all done.

I've got the tree surgeon coming at 2:00 to give me an estimate for thinning the crown on a rather large silver birch beside the drive, and then the electrician is due at 3:00 to give an estimate for (probably) a whole house re-wire. That's going to be horrendously expensive so let's hope it's not necessary. We've been having problems off and on with the lighting and apparently the wiring in the house doesn't meet current regulations so there's a chance it'll all have to be re-done.

OH is out at the pub meeting an ex-colleague who is in the area today (any old excuse!)

Re: Bonfire Thursday

Intermitent sunshine/rain today and windy too!

We went with Dominik to look around a prospective new school today . . . he was impressed with the art rooms and the outdoor swimming pool!! We reserved a place for the boys there a couple of years ago, but now it's time to start finalising details and of course making sure he is happy with it as he has to move from where he is at the end of this academic year as yr 3 upwards the school becomes girls-only

Looks like I have more casino websites to write before we get onto translating them; good as it's all additional revenue but not so good as the subject matter is dullsville and they set very tight deadlines!

Trying to set up our new blackberrys . . . our tech support company are going to have to come out and help because I just can't get the blasted things to work!!

Afternoon all,

Its been on and off with rain today, Im going to a pub tonight to watch the bonfire and fireworks. Hope my babies (Jake and Leo) will be ok on their own tonight, will have to leave the radio or tv on while we are out.

I have just bought more concert tickets to go and see P!nk live at the Bolton Reebok stadium in June next year. (so excited)

Have a good day all and be careful if your going out tonight.

Re: Bonfire Thursday

Hi, people . Another sunny chilly day, 11 degrees but not windy. Didn't need to shop today, this is my bi-weekly grocery delivery day, so had a lie-in and did some put-off chores. I'll probably do some bamboo-whacking in the garden this afternoon; that's about all the dull news from Washington!

Kazz, hope all goes well with your Mum. You are so busy, makes me tired reading about your day. Kado, happy 4th anniversary to Guinness, it doesn't seem that long since he came; hope he enjoys his ham! Good luck with the Blackberries, Yola, and how 's Bailie today? Enjoy the bonfire, Janey.

Hope the fireworks aren't too bad tonight!

Not that I would want people to blow things up, being of a non-violent disposition, but I always liked William Morris's idea that the Houses of Parliament should be used to store manure. About right IMO! But do you ever wonder what our world would be like now IF Guido had succeeded? Very different or not???

Have a safe evening everyone. Cuddles and soothing whatever they like best to all our feline friends.

Re: Bonfire Thursday

Thankfully my 3 are completely unbothered by fireworks, they're banging and crashing around outside and all (including the boys) are singularly unconcerned.

Karen, I only hope I can say the same things about my 2 little ones that you say about your neice (and nephew). Testament to the strength of your family that they have grown up so level-headed and personable.

Egypt? You'll love it - as will Katie

Edit to say, Eileen - Balie is much the same, OK in himself apart from his poor bott

Re: Bonfire Thursday

hi all, I've had a busy day at work, including lots of driving (350 miles) and I was tired when I got back to the office. Then went to the gym and did my spinning class, got home at 9pm and have just had a light tea. I'm ready for bed now

Re: Bonfire Thursday

Just an update from the tree surgeon and electrician visits today. The tree estimate will turn up in due course but he gave me a rough idea of a likely price which doesn't seem too bad.

The electrician had a quick look and set about fixing the problem, took about 45 mins and he only charged £35. He'll be back in a couple of weeks to do a full electrical survey, but we certainly need the groundfloor lighting circuit replaced and a new fusebox. A full rewire will cost about £4,000 but is probably not necessary (phew!)
