Thawing Thursday

It's actually up to 6 (42 F) before lunch: that's our normal high at this time of the year!! So will be above normal for the first time in 3 weeks of bitter cold; feels great, especially with the brilliant sunshine. I'm enjoying it while I can, it'll only last for a few days, they say. Made it to the market and library: have the new James Rollins which I'm looking forward to. Leia was out on the porch for a while, first in ages.

Hope the weather's decent there today with no more snow; take care, all.!

Re: Thawing Thursday

Yes, we're having a bit of a thaw here too. 2 atm - had a wee bit of sunshine, but that didn't last long. My bird food order has just arrived, as things begin to warm up - typical! Poor birds - luckily the standard seed and peanut cakes have just lasted out. I also have a new bird table, which will need putting together and painting before going out. The old one, inherited from MIL's house, is falling to bits and has rot but has just about lasted this latest nasty spell. OH thinks he's seen an unusual bird, but I think it's a Song thrush - admittedly it has a yellower breast than usual. I saw an unusual bird too, but only once - have no idea what it was!

Has anyone been watching The Hairy Bikers' new show - Mother Knows Best - bringing traditional family recipes to a wider audience? We are trying bran cake ......... will let you know if it's good!

Re: Thawing Thursday

It's thawing very nicely here, thanks DM! The snow's slid off the car roof and bonnet, the birdbath has stayed ice-free all day and the icicles have gone, hurrah! The snow was very pretty but enough's enough!

I'm trying to type very fast as I'm having awful connection problems for some reason on my notebook and can't use the PC as the house is being re-wired and various sockets etc. become inactive from time to time. I'm trying to get this typed before any more problems arise! The one I really don't understand is "the is a conflicting IP address with another system on the network"

I'm also finding Catsey much slower than my cocker and genealogy forums, so there's much frustration here at the moment.

I had a nice surprise on the genealogy forum the other day, made contact with another poster who shares my parental line and we're filling in some gaps for each other!

That's great about your genealogy forum MrsH! I have made 3 contacts that way. Not closely related but it's such a help and they are nice people too.

Sorry about your connection wobbles.

Re: Thawing Thursday

Not long back from an overnighter in Devon and my dear old Aunty's funeral Ended up staying in Bovey Tracey in a lovely old pub in a 'family room'. The boys had bunkbeds and were in 7th heaven. They both behaved themselves through the very long Polish Catholic mass and I'm proud of them.

The very foggy drive back was exhausting so I'm going to be off to bed soon.
