Home Alone

Well Sean and Emma left for Austria yesterday by coach. A week of skiing and snowboarding... I got really tearful when they went. Sean was rather embarrassed and got on the coach quick to avoid a scene, and Emma gave me some nice hugs. Why am I the only mother there that cried when they left? Everyone else seemed happy about it all.

House feels really empty, although I like the new "tidy" look. I feel I wont need to tidy all week now with just me and the cats here.

Emma called this morning to say they are about an hour away from their hotel, so at least they survived the journey

I hate them not being here. I will be a wreck when they leave home

Re: Home Alone

That will be a lovey experience for Sean and Emma, Donna and you will be able to enjoy some "me" time for a change

They will at least be able to keep in contact with you by mobile while they are away ...... years ago we were lucky if a post card arrived before they came home again!

Hang in there, enjoy the peace and quiet, and think of how much fun they're having.

You've worked so hard for them Donna it's understandable that you're very upset to be separated; even for a week. Just think of the fun they'll be having though

Re: Home Alone

Thanks everyone, Emma is keeping in touch; Sean on the other hand is not, but what can I expect from a nearly-18 year old with his mates??? I did just speak to them just now. They have had breakfast and are just off out snowboarding... I am a little bit better now - have tidied their rooms and found about a million pairs of lost socks under their beds so will be busy with washing for the next week!!!

Well yes no doubt. But if I ever hear "mum have you washed my clothes as I have no socks" again, I will bang their heads together

Re: Home Alone

I totally understand Donna, my 22 yeyar old son leaves for Australia on Saturday for 2 years! He is doing a masters in music at Adelaide University. I have shed lots of tears already and am dreading this week. It is a wonderful opportunity for him, but I am a wreck.
