Not-sunny Saturday

Cloudy and chilly, -4 (25 F), and believe it or not they are calling for more snow on Monday! But at least the newspapers and mail are coming now; hope the bus will be running again tomorrow so I can get to the market before the next storm. Got a few pics, will post after lunch. Safeway called yesterday to say they had to cancel all deliveries as some of their suppliers didn't get thru and the streets are not really clear enough !! the other market, the one I go to for Leia's food, also has a delivery service so ordered there as they are delivering; should be here Monday .... please keep your fingers crossed for me.

I was almost afraid to log on this morning worrying about K and Eva. So glad at the news. Not good about Amber ad her mastitis, hope that will improve.

Hope it's a good day for all ....

Yes fingers crossed your delivery arrives Eileen.
Been out to see two friends today which was nice, we went to a few garden centres and i have managed to get cat nip seeds so will have a go at growing it, although i wont hold my breath
There was a cat in the garden centre and i had a bag of catnip in my bag, as you do I put some on the ground for her and she enjoyed a good roll around.

I have a little more energy today; I think the herbal medicine has really made a quick and big difference! Cleared the back garden of dead branches and swept the remainder of the old leaves up. Tidied the house a bit too, and went out to the car wash.

Flagging a bit now so tuna/sweetcorn/pasta with mayo for the boys' dinner and then an early night for them both so I can have a sit down.

Re: Not-sunny Saturday

Been to Garden Centre too. Bought some potatoes to plant out.

Been wanting to buy a nice shrub and planter to sit over Alfies grave so purchased that too.

Hope your delivery gets thru' DM. Yola, do hope you feel better, glad the herbal meds seem to have helped. That tiredness has been with you for quite a while. Look after yourself. Shelley123, Catnip in the handbag - oh well, us cat folks are daft at times

Yola, glad you're feeling a bit better and hope it continues. Shelley, will you be planting it in a pot or the ground? Catnip is incredibly hardy and germinates well; you should have no problems. Just sprinkle some of the very very tiny seeds where you want it to grow. CM, lovely idea about Alfie.

Re: Not-sunny Saturday

Calismum, do you not carry catnip in your handbag?
No seriously i took it to my friends to try it out on her cats, all 3 loved it. Howard said i would be in trouble with the police if they pulled me over, it did look rather suspicious
Eileen i think i will plant it in a pot and maybe sprinkle some seeds in the rockery when the weather warms up. I'm not good at growing things, in fact have never grown anything from seed but it was only £1.45 for 500 seeds so worth a try.

Re: Not-sunny Saturday

I doubt if you'll have any trouble growing it, Shelley, it is in the mint family and grows like a weed; not too fussy about soil, but does like sun. And it will re-seed itself.

Re: Not-sunny Saturday

Sorry to be so late to sign in! I've had a good day, sorting out some family history stuff - I've now got all the available photos together from my dad's side and I've been able to trace all but one of his siblings years of birth and the girls' marriages. He was one of 11 children, I'd always believed, but I only have 10 names. I can't find anything about either of his parents on the 1901 Census though, which is frustrating.

Sorry to hear that you are still not 100% Yola - even if you think the herbal medicine is doing good, I wouldn't leave it too long before going to your GP.

Just seen some good news from Tink about K - I can't imagine what she and K have been through over the last months - there must be a huge reserve in the human spirit to be able to continue to fight like that ..... they both have my utmost respect.

And Eva has eaten some salmon ......... very well done lass! Keep it up please.

Can't believe more snow is forecast for Washington next Monday - if ever that transmat beam was needed, it's now.

I've ordered my seed potatoes too today - we trialled several varieties last year and decided we liked Vivaldi best, so will plant 20 tubers this year. Also ordered greenhouse seeds and, yes, some more cat mint!
