Afternoon all. Sorry to hear about the leg Kazz I hope it has eased a bit now. Not been up to much today. Book the flights for the wedding party today, got a bit of discount from Ryanair by keeping an eye on the prices of the flights, saved about £500, which was good. I won a dress on ebay - Monsoon Maxi dress, managed to get it for £50 when the original price was £150 - it came today and it is as new, never been worn, complete with labels and the lady also enclosed the original receipt so I can see she purchased it for full price. Very happy as it is a dress I wanted to wear over in Italy of the week of the wedding, but there was no way I wanted to pay £150 for it. Bargain of the month for me! Lamb tagine in the oven at the moment for our dinner tonight, smells soooooo good!!! |

Hi people! A real foretaste of April here: already 18 degrees (65 F) before lunch, sunny and will get warmer as the day goes on. On the ride to the library and liquor store saw dozens in shorts already and shop owners putting out chairs and umbrellas in their outside seating areas! We'll be back to reality by Tuesday, so I'm enjoying it while I can; as is Leia ,,,her porch is open and she can come and go as she wishes. Kazz, so sorry about your leg; hope you can be admitted soonest and get this over with. Shelley, never had leek soup, sounds delicious, recipe? Wow, Emma, what a great buy! Enjoy the weekend! |

Eileen, the recipe is from a very old book that belonged to my Nanna. All the recipes were sent in by members of the Yorkshire womens institute. The book also contains recipes for various medical conditions such as unwanted warts, soar throats, quinseys, coughs and chilblains. Anyway here goes: Ingredients 2 good sized leeks (white part only) 1oz marg/butter 1/2 lb peeled/thinly sliced Potatoes 1 stick chopped celery seasoning handful rice 1 1/2 pts stock grated cheese Method Chop leeks, fry in marg add potatoes, celery and seasoning cover with stock and simmer for 1/4 hr add rice, simmer for 5 mins, then cook slowly for 1/2 hr Blend and serve with grated cheese |

Thanks, Shelley! Sounds delicious; hope you don't mind but I've posted it in the Recipe Sticky as I want to try it; easier to find there than trying to remember which Daily it was in. |

I'm sure I will; I've seen leek soup recipes before but they all called for pureeing the ingredients and had milk or cream as an ingredient also; I'm not particularly fond of that sort of soup. This one sounds just right! I like the Recipe Sticky, glad you found it; some tasty things there. |
