Volcanic Thursday

Well the biggest news today is the fact that UK is isolated from the rest of the world because of the volcanic ash in the upper atmosphere and all flights cancelled.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010...ic-ash-iceland

The land of ice and fire has spoken for a second time in a month. There are some fantastic video clips on the web if you like to sit open mouthed as the tremendous power of nature at it's most violent.

Nice day here, but very chilly. I have potted up some more seedlings and it is lovely in the greenhouse. OH is weeding the veggie beds and is being helped by K&P.

Hope everyone has a good day and that no one is planning to fly anywhere ...................

I have OH in Hull till hopefully tomorrow due to the volcanic ash - he was supposed to have a 3 day weekend with us but mother nature decided differently!

Re: Volcanic Thursday

It's sunny but cold here. OH is at a meeting in London but no need for planes, just tube and train.

Fifi was much more settled this morning and doesn't seem too bothered by her stitched paw; it was curled up under her when we came down. I'm a bit sore but not too bad.

Just had a call from the local BBC radio station wanting me to be interviewed on a live radio show on Sunday about the Polish priest I knew who died in the Smolensk air accident. I wanted to help but ended up saying no because the thought of speaking live on air (having already done it a couple of times) terrified me!

Right - off to write some more copy

Re: Volcanic Thursday

Hi all. The volcanic ash/no flight story was on TV this morning; who would have thought it would disrupt things so....

Going to be a lovely day, already 16 C (60 F) before lunch and will make 23 C by afternoon, blue cloudless skies; doesn't get much better than this in early Spring. Picked the first roses this morning, have a small bud vase of them by the computer. Another no errand day, so pottering, started moving the amaryllis outside. Grocery delivery coming this afternoon. No real news.

Angie, what seedlings are up? My last tomato emerged yesterday, the replacement for one that never germinated. Yola, a pity you don't feel up to the interview; I hate that sort of thing myself so I sympathize. Good to hear about Fifi,s paw.

Enjoy the day!

Re: Volcanic Thursday

Wow, lots! Would you believe, as I was moving the pots to the West window I managed to drop and spill the one with the last tomato...aaaugh! Replanted it and hope it makes it. I'll start the flower seeds a bit later, zinnia and tithonia, and will plant the beans (borlotti) outside in May when the soil is warmer. Moved all the amaryllis outside today. My overwintered catnip is well up and HRH has been eating the leaves I bring her.
