Thankyou every one, sadly the news isnt as good as I'd hoped. Rayne has a very inflamed tummy and an even more inflamed and ulcerated large intestine, conclusion is that small intestine will be terribly inflamed also. Biopsies have been taken to determine the extent of the IBD and how agressively we need to treat it to try to get it under control. We should get the results of those at the end of the week. For now I have to give her a restricted diet of Hill's z/d food, no treats, bones or anything else. She will have zantac every 8 to 12 hours and 5mg prednisolone daily. Once the biopsy results are back the likelyhood is that we will also be giving her tylan (sp), probiotics etc and try to gradually reduce the preds but she may need the preds for a long long time to come. The next 3 to 4 months will be the hardest as it will be a case of trial and error to try to get the correct measure of meds to keep her stable. The good news is that once we get her stable, it will be a case of managing the condition for the rest of her life. She is feeling very sorry for herself this afternoon and is quite unsettled. |
