Holly Wednesday

Afternoon all! Just having a cup of coffee, back from our walk with Monty. It was raining heavily first thing, but it did brighten up and we enjoyed our walk, although it was muddy and I wore my gaiters for the first time in ages. OH has stiff legs today because he stacked a whole load of logs on his own yesterday and he is suffering today.

I have some work for this afternoon but am looking forward to the Quiz this evening. Hope you will join us

Re: Holly Wednesday

Hi Angie, Shelley, those to follow. Our delightful spell of unseasonable weather is gone; a bit after 10:30 AM and only a seasonable 8℃ (45℉), but nice and sunny. All's quiet as usual, down to pay the rent, check mail and pick grass; pleasant chat with Another cat-loving resident. No hawks today!

Angie, another case of different words: are gaiters overshoes? Shelley, hope you can make the quiz, hope we have a good turnout tonight.

Stay warm, keep smiling!

Re: Holly Wednesday

Eileen - in UK, gaiters protect your lower legs and stop water going down the top of your boots/shoes. They are like these -

Very useful if it's not wet enough for waterproof trousers.

Thanks, odd-looking things, I don't believe they're common here......

Re: Holly Wednesday

Hi all... Late start and finish day for me, so not long in and a bung in the oven evening meal...

Eileen - I think fishermen use Gaiters most often - if they're going to go wading when they catch their fish they wear really long ones... At one point I had short ones, which would team up with waterproof trousers and walking boots, to keep self dry if going hill walking on a wet day... Haven't been on the hills in years though...

They are called waders and are waterproof boots and dungarees all-in-one!
