Re: Boxing Day

Had a very relaxing day yesterday and we're waiting for our son and DIL to drop in any minute to liven things up, they're the party people in our family I'm not sure what we're having for lunch, maybe cold meats with a cooked meal (probably turkey risotto) this evening. We'll also be playing board games, we tend to be rather competitive but won't play Scrabble as OH takes forever and a day to decide his move.

Most definitely NOT doing the sales!

Re: Boxing Day

Happy Boxing Day folks!

I wish we'd taken your advise Kazz - but only just read your post about avoiding Boxing Day dog walkers! We went to West Wittering beach again, because we'd had such a good time there yesterday, but the tide was further in and there were a zillion more dogs/people. Have to say the dogs weren't an issue. Monty met and played with a 6 month old Airedale whose owners were very nice - the pup had the most glorious coloured coat - almost orange and black; there was a bit of growling, but it was only play. Monty met loads more dogs but the people - well! Best left unsaid really. Saw three what I assume were Wheaten Terriers with a pup but no chance their owners were going to acknowledge a scruffy little Schnauzer!

Back home, Monty has been washed to get rid of the sand and has a chew and will soon be asleep. OH and I have had a lovely coffee with brandy and cream and we may soon too be asleep .................. zzzzzzzzzzzz

Cold meats and salad with CHIPS for our meal today, probably an early supper.

I'm probably going to watch Downton Abbey which I recorded from yesterday. We did enjoy Absolutely Fabulous and Michael McIntyre's comedy show last night. I enjoyed Dr Who - that particular special definitely took it back to the children's TV that it was always intended to be.

Enjoy your day whatever you're up to - sales or not!

Re: Boxing Day

Hi all - well, house is quiet again after our full house yesterday - 19!!!!

OH out doing his sheep rounds, we will have early dinner/late lunch when he comes in then an afternoon in front of TV/snoozing (probably a bit of both)

Sorry your walk was a bit of a letdown ANgie - Like Kazz I never go dog walk Boxing day or NY day.

Mrs H - don't party too hard!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

Re: Boxing Day

Hi, all!.Quiet day yesterday.Am feeling poorly; somehow I pulled a back muscle, don't know how as I haven't lifted anything heavy, but it is very very sore! Moving is uncomfortable, but did get out for grass. Sunny and mildish at nearing 11 AM: 6℃ (43℉), quite windy. Leia's been enjoying her Christmas balls.

No shopping here either: stores opened at 5 AM in some places for the after-Christmas sales ... bah humbug! No leftovers for dinner, just bacon and scrambled eggs. Why ar afrer-holifay dog walkers bad? Just more of them?

Enjoy the day......

Re: Boxing Day

Hello everyone, Sounds as if people had a nice time yesterday. Eileen, I hope your back feels better soon- do you have one of those wheat bags you can heat up in the microwave? I find ours is great for aches and pains.
I'm puzzled by the dog walkers- why are they different on Boxing Day?
We had a very lazy Christmas Day but today was quite busy. I finished moving the last raised bed fom the allotment so that's it. I'm a bit sad but I just couldn't manage it - clay soil in what used to be a ploughed field. My plot was the corner where the plough turned and I just couldn't sort out the levels. Still, I now have two small and one big raised bed across here in the garden and one less thing to feel guilty about! I also went for a run so I'm hoping to work off some of the chocolates I'm currently eating.....
Off to visit family tomorrow. I love seeing them them all but 5 teenagers get a bit lively!
