a chance meeting

whilst in scotland last week we were approached by a lady who had had 9 Basenjis. We chatted for a while before parting company, she bumped into us again 10 mins later and described where she lived and gave us an invite to visit, we politely nodded but had no intention of taking her up, however when she approached us a third time with her address and number written down we decided she realy did want us to visit.
Part way through the holiday i rang and suggested we call in on the way back home.
Meanwhile i said to Howard that it would be funny if she was also a doll collector and i decided to not delete a few doll pictures from the camera.
When we arrived at their cottage it was rather a surprise to discover that she was indeed a doll collector and also had an interest in pebbles and driftwood like myself.
The visit went realy well and they were delighted with the dogs who raided their kitchen bin and rubbed their faces on the damp tea towel habging in the kitchen as only Basenjis do
They had , had 9 Basenjis in the 70's so were unfazed by our two.
It was as if we had met before and we have made arrangements to meet again.

Basenji owners united. How very weird though Angie if it were a scene in a tv programme or film it would be fate.

They have not got a caravan where you live have they?

Re: a chance meeting

it felt like it was meant to be and made the end of the holiday special.
There was a cruk cottage on their drive that belongs to the scottish heritage trust, they are keyholders so we got a look in there as well.
They used to belong to the same Basenji club as we do and i have been able to give them some information that will enable them to see their past dogs details on a database.

Re: a chance meeting

That's such a coincidence Shelley! I wonder how many other Basenji owners are also doll and pebble collectors - do collecting those things appeal to the same sort of folk?
