Poor old Romans with their muddy gear it reminds me of when I was teaching as I had a couple of Latin classes. In the course book that we were using the Romans at one point were complaining about being stationed in Britain "pluit, iterum pluit, semper pluit" (it's raining, it's raining again, it's always raining) I've got a poorly toe, I scraped it the other day when out with the dog (I was wearing sandals ) and the graze hasn't healed yet, is a bit oozy and the toe is rather red. I do hope it's not infected I bathed it with Hibiscrub solution last night and already it looks quite a lot better, drier and not so red. I suppose I really should get the dr to have a look at it though. Off to P@H sometime today for a few bits and pieces, hope everyone gets better weather soon! |

Morning CS, Kazz and anyone who patters along later ..... this forum has been SO QUIET lately. Another un-summer day here - the usual. I also grinned at the thought of Romans getting miffed about the rain and mud. Didn't think the foot soldiers had armour, just leather jerkins? My history mightn't be up to much ..... Not sure why this came into my head: Before the Roman came to Rye or out to Severn strode, The rolling English drunkard made the rolling English road. A reeling road, a rolling road, that rambles round the shire, And after him the parson ran, the sexton and the squire; A merry road, a mazy road, and such as we did tread The night we went to Birmingham by way of Beachy Head. (The Rolling English Road by G.K. Chesterton) I'm sure that's why the roadmakers were plastered all the time - either mud or gin!) That's cheered me up - have a good day folks! PS. Sorry MrsH, I didn't mean to ignore you - sorry to hear about your toe, hope it heals up quickly. Sandals woman? You must have been a bit mad that day!!! |

I often wear sandals when it's raining Angie on the principle that the rain drains out quickly and with sandals there's not much leather to have to dry out |

On the sandals theme...I have a friend who has been gardening in a swimcostume in the rain, refusing to give in to the weather...........madness springs to mind. Hope your toe improves MrsH... Angie I have never seen/read that before "Birmingham by way of beachy head"...........very good. My plan to go out tonight has failed I did not get up well I did about 6pm I was tired though I refuse to rush just having a bit of a potter then maybe take advantage of late night shopping as I am tomorrow evening, and now going out for coffee tomorrow afternoon instead of tonight. My iterview at college has arrived its 5pm Thursday - going out on Thursday lunchtime - its all go on my days off...... Have a good evening all. |
