hello everyone, well i'm part way through a very stressful day. Chris and myself had a dental appointment this afternoon, pleased to say it's over. I have to admit to being terrified, both of us were fine, just needing a scale and polish which in itself is quite unpleasant. Now we just need to get the vet visit out of the way at 6.30. Some of you will be aware that Malaika has had problems with her paws over the summer. She's had what are commonly called inter digital cysts. We visited the vets whilst on holiday and have also been treating them ourselves, they have at times appeared to get better then flare up again. However the main reason we are going is that she has a problem with her mouth now. We took both dogs for off lead excercise on friday and she found a stick to chew, when we went to take it off her she rubbed her head along the ground as if something was stuck. On inspection we couldn't see anything. She has now developed horrendous breath and is eating a bit slower than usual so off we go. |

Shelley, I think we are busy lining vet's pockets between us both this week Yesterday it was Pandora's check up, today Roxanne and Friday Pearla's booster!! Fingers crossed that Malaika has nothing serious, sounds like a foreign body injury though cuddles from me xx |

Sorry about Roxanne, OH is quite good at diagnosing hen ailments, with ours its usually old age. Poor Malaika, she must have eaten something yuk. Hope she is OK at the vet and her paws are OK. I know Westies are very prone to inter digital cysts but I don't know about other breeds. I hate dentists, always have. I'm very pleased that my teeth are now plastic! Years ago I was so frightened that the dental nurse had to hold my head still because I was shaking so much. The result of having previously visited a very bad dentist. Ironically he had a bad car accident and injured his hands so was no longer able to practice. Poetic justice I thought. |

Back from the vets now. Malaika was a really good girl, fortunately i have trained them both to accept us looking at their teeth and handling their mouths. Chris couldn't see or feel anything so he prescribed AB's and anti inflamatories. The he said " What's that ?" and there was a manky looking piece of wood next to her on the table. Poor girl must have been so uncomfortable. Hopefuly the drugs will help her paws too. If they don't go he may refer her to a skin specialist. |

Poor Malaika. Hope she feels better now. We make sure our dogs will have their teeth inspected. We show them as well so they have to be used to being handled. |
